Ben Gallaher’s new single I’ll Take You arrived with a very different sound from the way the song first began. The release marks the end of a long creative process that started with a slower version written in 2022 under a different title.
Early plans for the track leaned toward a ballad, but the song changed direction as work began on Gallaher’s sophomore album, Time. The team needed one more up-tempo song for the project, and that opened the door to a major rewrite in the studio.
Gallaher helped reshape the final version with chord changes and a guitar riff that became one of the song’s defining parts. The new arrangement kept the original lyric but gave it more drive, turning it into a country-rock track built for movement.
The finished recording also highlights Gallaher’s raspy vocal style and guitar playing. By the end of the process, the song had changed so much that it stood apart from its original ballad form and took on a new identity of its own.
